A tap can make campsite water easier to use without lifting a full carrier for every kettle or handwash. Match the thread, seal and operating position to the container, then give the outlet a stable place with enough clearance beneath it.

Confirm exact compatibility
Check the carrier model, year where relevant and the cap or neck specification. Similar-looking openings can use different threads or sealing arrangements. A tap that starts to screw on is not necessarily a correct fit.
The Aquaroll tap guidance excludes 29- and 40-litre Aquarolls made before 1992. That is a useful example of why an old container’s name alone cannot establish accessory compatibility.
Support the container properly
Aquaroll specifies using its tap with the appropriate stand. Its 40-litre stand positions the outlet above the ground for dispensing. Follow the supplied method for placing the carrier on it rather than improvising a pile of boxes.

Check useful clearance
Put the kettle, bottle or washing bowl you intend to fill beneath the outlet. Make sure you can operate the tap without knocking the container or spilling water across the entrance route.
Choose level, stable ground and keep the setup away from electrical connections. Provide an appropriate way to deal with drips or wash water according to the site’s rules.
Test the seal before travelling
Inspect the mating surfaces and seal for damage or trapped grit. Fit the tap as instructed and test with clean water. Check it closed and dispensing, then look for slow leakage after it has stood for a while.
Do not overtighten a plastic thread in an attempt to compensate for the wrong fitting or a damaged seal. Replace the correct part instead. Keep any original cap needed for transport or filling with the carrier.
Follow filling and cleaning instructions
Aquaroll says to remove its tap and use the standard end cap during filling. Other carrier systems may have a different vent or filling arrangement, so use the instructions for your own model.
Clean the outlet and components using the maker’s approved method, and keep clean-water parts separate from toilet or wastewater equipment. Drain and dry them appropriately before storage.
A good tap setup provides controlled flow without repeated lifting. Compatibility, stable support and an accessible outlet matter more than choosing the fitting with the most elaborate handle.
