If camping chair feet start sinking, stand up carefully and reassess the position before continuing to use it. One foot sinking farther than the others can leave the frame unevenly supported. The first solution is often better ground, not another accessory.

Check the whole footprint
Look beneath every foot for soft patches, holes and uneven contact. A chair that appears level when empty may settle differently under load. Follow the manufacturer’s surface and setup instructions, and avoid using a position that remains unstable.
Check that the chair is completely assembled too. A pole that is not fully seated, a missing foot or an unengaged lock is a separate problem; spreading the load on the ground will not correct it.
Understand what a ground sheet does
A chair ground sheet joins or supports the feet to create a broader contact area. It is a chair accessory, not the same thing as a loose tent footprint. Its shape and attachment points must match the chair.
Helinox describes its Ground Sheet as a wider base intended to help prevent sinking on soft surfaces. The range has different compatibility options. The Chair Zero version on Amazon UK is one example; do not assume it fits a Chair One, Sunset or a chair from another brand.
Fit accessories before loading the chair
Follow the supplied fitting sequence and check that each corner or strap is correctly secured. Inspect the accessory for worn stitching or damaged attachment points. Recheck after moving the chair, because carrying or dragging it may disturb the fit.
A ground sheet does not increase the chair’s load rating and should not be used to justify a location outside its intended conditions. If the chair still moves unpredictably, choose another spot.
What about larger replacement feet?
Use only a suitable compatible design and check how it attaches. A loose cover that falls off whenever the chair is lifted can be lost easily. Extra feet may also change the packed dimensions or require a separate storage pouch.
Avoid balancing chair legs on loose stones, bottles or improvised stacks. Unequal supports can create a different instability while appearing to solve the original sinking problem.
Check the surface after rain
A patch of ground can change during a stay. Reassess a previously suitable seating area after heavy rain or repeated use, particularly if one side becomes softer. Move the complete setup rather than repeatedly pushing one foot deeper to make the seat look level.
If chairs are permitted inside your tent, consider the floor as well: damaged or dirty feet can abrade fabric. A ground sheet designed for soft ground does not automatically establish that a chair is suitable for use on a tent floor.
Choose the simplest reliable fix
Start with correct assembly and appropriate ground. Add a manufacturer-compatible support only where it addresses the remaining problem. Check the chair under normal use, then keep the accessory with its bag so it is available when you need it next time.
