Week-Long Camping Packing List: Plan Supplies and Routines

For a week of camping, the main change from a weekend is the routine around food, laundry, charging and wet equipment. Taking seven times as much of everything quickly fills the car. Plan how you will replenish and maintain the kit you actually use.

Divide the list into fixed kit and consumables

Your tent, sleeping equipment, chairs and basic kitchen are fixed items: the trip length does not multiply them. Food, washing supplies, fuel and clean clothing need a separate plan. Write down what you can buy, wash or recharge near the campsite and what must last the whole stay.

Confirm facilities before relying on them. A campsite shop may have limited hours or stock, and a laundry description may not tell you whether drying is available. Keep enough reserve that one closed shop or rainy afternoon does not disrupt the whole week.

Core equipment checklist

  • Complete shelter and suitable sleep systems for everyone.
  • Wet-weather clothing, warm layers and protected dry sleepwear.
  • Lighting and a charging or spare-battery plan.
  • Water storage and the kitchen equipment your menu requires.
  • Appropriate food cooling where needed.
  • Wash kit, towels, personal medication and cleaning supplies.
  • Rubbish bags, equipment repair items and separate storage for damp kit.

Add furniture and other comfort items after checking the complete vehicle load and pitch space. A longer stay may justify a useful table or cupboard, but only if you can transport and position it properly.

Use a clothing rotation

Plan clothing around expected activities and access to washing or drying. Keep sleeping clothes separate so they remain available even when daytime kit is damp. A dedicated bag for each person’s clean clothes makes it easier to find items without turning the tent into a pile of laundry.

A set such as the Sea to Summit Lightweight Dry Bags on Amazon UK can organise larger clothing groups. Size the bags around your contents and label them clearly; do not compress damp clothing into sealed storage for days.

Plan meals in shorter blocks

Rather than loading a week’s worth of perishable food into an unsuitable cool box, plan realistic shopping intervals and storage. List a few simple meals that use overlapping ingredients, plus an easy option for a late return to the campsite.

Estimate cooking fuel from the appliances and usage you expect, then follow storage and transport instructions. Do not rely on finding an unfamiliar replacement connection locally.

If toast or grilled food features regularly in your menu, our camping stove with grill guide helps you decide whether the extra equipment will earn its place.

For a meat-free menu, use our vegetarian camping meal ideas to build different dinners from a manageable set of ingredients.

Build in a midweek check

Review battery levels, remaining supplies, wet kit and rubbish before they become urgent. Inspect the tent’s pitching arrangements after weather changes and follow its care instructions. Put items back in their agreed places so everyone can find them.

The most useful week-long packing list includes a maintenance routine. Enough equipment to sleep, eat and stay organised reliably will serve you better than a boot full of spares with no plan for keeping them usable.
