Check output compatibility first
List the equipment you want to power and the connection each item needs. Include continuous input power, any starting requirement and the permitted supply. A compatible USB-C port may suit a laptop without using a mains charger, but the required charging profile must be supported.

Decide how you will recharge
Check the input connection, charging limit and time available. A solar panel’s rated watts are not its guaranteed output throughout a UK day. If recharging is uncertain, size the battery for the essential period without depending on a best-case solar estimate.
