The Trangia 25 is the larger cookset; the 27 is the smaller one. The numbers do not describe burner power or a later model generation. Choose the cooking capacity first, then compare material, kettle and burner options within that size.

Measure the meal you normally cook
Consider pasta plus cooking water, a sauce that needs stirring or several rounds of frying. Leave the working headroom specified for the cookware. Two hungry people making a substantial shared dinner may value more room than two people only boiling drinks.
Conversely, a solo walker preparing small meals may carry unused capacity in the larger set. Try your intended portions in similar-sized pans before choosing solely from a person-count label.
Keep variants separate
UL, hard-anodised, coated and other material versions can differ in weight and care. Sets with a kettle also contain different equipment from those without one. A gas-burner set is not the same packed comparison as a spirit-burner set.
Compare complete configurations with the same burner type and included accessories. Check the current burner generation in a gas set, especially where older stock remains available under a long-running listing.
Which size should you investigate?
Compare the 25-1 spirit-burner set for larger shared meals and the 27-1 spirit-burner set for a more compact arrangement. Check the listing contents rather than assuming every 25 or 27 includes a kettle.
Use the supplied windshield, pan-support positions and burner instructions. Cook outdoors with the required clearances. Once capacity is right, choose the material and fuel routine you will maintain comfortably; the smaller set is not automatically the better backpacking choice if it makes every meal awkward.
