Choose the original Helinox Sunset when you want a high back in a smaller, lighter package than Savanna. Choose Savanna when its wider frame, fabric armrests and built-in cup holders are worth the extra bulk. Both are intended for relaxed sitting, so try the seating position before deciding from dimensions alone.

Compare the original Sunset
This guide uses the Sunset Chair and Savanna Chair. The Sunset Chair (re) is a separate redesign with different measurements. Fabric editions and colours can also affect the stated weight.
| Feature | Original Sunset | Savanna, cited specification |
|---|---|---|
| Overall height | 97cm | 110cm |
| Overall width | 59cm | 64cm |
| Packed weight | 1,564g | 1,952g |
| Packed length | 48cm | 50.5cm |
| Load capacity | 145kg | 145kg |
These overall heights describe the assembled chairs, not seat height. Use the actual sitting position to judge ease of getting up.
Do you want arm support?
Savanna adds soft fabric armrests and cup holders on both sides. That can be useful if you spend long periods reading or relaxing and want small items close by. Check whether the arms support your preferred posture without crowding your elbows.
Sunset offers a simpler high-back arrangement. If you usually rest your arms in your lap or use a nearby table, the added features may not justify the larger chair. An accessory cup holder is another item to price and pack if you need one.
Check head and shoulder fit
A high back needs to meet your body in the right place. Sit normally, look around and try the chair with the clothing you usually wear at camp. A photograph cannot show whether the upper edge or headrest arrangement feels comfortable to you.
Think about table use too. A chair chosen for reclining after dinner may not be your preferred position for eating or playing a board game. Check the complete chair-and-table combination rather than selecting each independently.
If movement matters more to you than a fixed reclining position, compare these seats with the checks in our rocking camping chair guide.
Measure the campsite footprint
Savanna’s greater depth and width require more room around neighbouring chairs. Allow space for people to pass without stepping through the frame. In a small shelter, check that the back does not press against fabric.
Use both chairs as instructed on suitable firm, level ground. Match any ground sheet, seat warmer or spare part to the exact model. Carrying a lightweight chair does not mean it should be left unsecured in strong wind.
Which is the better fit?
Compare the original Sunset Blackout on Amazon UK and Savanna Coyote Tan, checking the current variant details.
Pick Sunset for the smaller high-back package or Savanna for its arm support and extra room. Let a comfortable seated fit and realistic carrying distance decide whether the additional size earns its place.
